HAF is achieving what Moroccan communities and our public and private partners most want – and is its mission: development projects that local communities identify, implement and benefit from – with partnering support from government and nongovernment agencies.
The village communities we work with experience very difficult poverty, serious land and mountain degradation, and unrealized extraordinary human development potential.
HAF does not impose a project on a community. Rather, the people themselves come together in community-wide discussions – facilitated by HAF's project team – and over the course of participatory activities and many meetings, an action plan based on their shared project priorities results. We are dedicated to implementing this kind of development, as well as training others in facilitating participatory planning.
Whether for the 1 Million Tree Campaign, clean drinking water, women’s and youth initiatives or training, HAF provides the materials and technical support and the communities do the project. It is their project, done by them, for them, made possible by your contributions. A local leader in the Rhamna province described the empowering result: “We never thought that these projects could be implemented. It is a dream that became a reality for us. We feel proud with what we achieved right now and we hope to strengthen our partnership.” |
